Two Kenton churches plan Block Party Aug. 8

Trinity United Presbyterian and First Reformed Church will host a Neighborhood Block Party for the neighborhood surrounding the two churches in Kenton. The Neighborhood Block Party will be held in the First Reformed Church parking lot and on the lawn of Trinity Presbyterian from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8.

Lima Aglow to meet

Pastor Beverly Smith will be the speaker at the monthly meeting of Lima Aglow International on Thursday, Aug. 13 from 9:30 a.m. to noon at Church of the Good Shepherd, 224 S. Elm St., Columbus Grove. Registration at the door is $4.

Novena for Assumption of Mary set at shrine

CAREY — The Basilica and National Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation in Carey invites everyone to join it for the annual novena to Our Lady of Consolation in preparation for the feast of her Assumption, Aug. 6-14. The annual celebration of Mary’s Assumption into heaven is the largest event at the shrine.

Alger First UMC plans Rainforest Adventure

ALGER — Alger First United Methodist Church will be holding Vacation Bible School July 27-31 from 6 to 8 p.m. Children who are preschool age up to those entering the sixth grade are invited to participate in a “Rainforest Adventure: A Tree Top Bible Blast!”
