Jazz recital series at ONU to begin

ADA – The Parker Presents jazz group will perform at 8 p.m. on Sept. 28 in Presser Hall’s Snyder Recital Hall at Ohio Northern University. It is free and open to the public. The group consists of Gene Parker on saxophone, Ray Parker on bass, Harry Allen on tenor sax, Tad Weed on piano and George Schuller on drums.

Ada’s Varsity Singers opened the swing choir show Sunday afternoon at the grandstand of the 2017 Hardin County Fair. A crowd of 786 attended the concert which also featured singers from Hardin Northern, Kenton High School and Middle School, Ridgemont and Riverdale.

Baskets, BBQ, entertainment to highlight summer festival at Immaculate Conception

It is a tradition for there to be a summer celebration at the Immaculate Conception Church in Kenton. When the Sisters of Charity nuns were operating the San Antonio Hospital in the 1950s, they came up with a fundraiser called Lawn Fete which earned dollars for the operation of the hospital, said Dr. Kate Johnson.
