Hardin Northern accepts resignation and offers contracts DOLA — The Hardin Northern Board of Education took action on several teaching and supplemental contracts at its meeting on Wednesday. The action included accepting the resignation of Steve Wykes as a bus driver and approving him for the substitute list for that position. Wykes has several years of service to the district, noted Superintendent Jeff Price, and had served as transportation director. Read More
Lineup announced for Kenton Memorial Day Parade The 2019 Memorial Day Parade lineup has been announced by the Hardin County Veterans Service Office. The parade will begin promptly at 10 a.m. leaving downtown, going around the courthouse, traveling along Franklin Street to Grove Cemetery where it will conclude. Police reports: May 23, 2019 An officer was dispatched to 356 Kuert Ave. for a report of a runaway juvenile. While in the Auto Zone parking lot in the 300 block of W. Franklin Street, an officer observed an altercation in the alley next to Jimmy’s Pizza. Youth can earn money learning about mental health careers Area students will be given an opportunity to earn money while they learn about careers in the mental health field. Prevention Awareness Support Services (PASS) has partnered with the Family Resource Center and the Mental Health Recovery Services Board of Allen, Auglaize and Hardin counties are sponsoring the event, which will last five weeks. Participants will focus on mental health and social work careers. The program is available for youth entering the 9th through 12th grades and wishing to learn more about the demands in that field. OSU alumni treated to music show Members of the Ohio State Alumni Club of Hardin County were treated to music from the Beatles at their annual dinner on Tuesday night in Kenton. William Ballenger, director of the OSU School of Music, and assistant Pete Tender, sang and played a selection of Beatles’ songs. The “Musical Magical Mystery Tour,” Ballenger said, was inspired by a study abroad to London a year ago in which they visited various Beatles landmarks. Read More
