Police reports: July 25, 2019

An officer was dispatched to Walmart for a reported theft of numerous items. The suspect, Tara A. Wilson, 216 1/2 W. Franklin St., was detained by Walmart and issued a summons for theft by the KPD. A report was taken of a dead animal in a bag at the railroad tracks on S. Wayne Street.

Health board continues search in replacing its fiscal officer

The Kenton-Hardin County Health board remains without a fiscal officer. During its July meeting on Tuesday, Board president Bob Wood stated that he has been in contact with several people regarding taking care of the financial books for the board and that two of them turned him down and a third, while stating that while it should not be that difficult is currently unavailable after having a surgery.

About 30 employees of AEP assisted the Kenton Full Gospel Church in preparing to distribute food to area residents Tuesday. Full Gospel’s Bread of Life Food Pantry is discontinuing its monthly food distribution and instead will expand to be open each Thursday.

BKP Ambulance District clerk learns at job daily

As the clerk for the BKP Ambulance District in Kenton, Peg Brown said it’s not a productive day unless she’s learned something on the job. Peg has spent 13 years with BKP, starting in June of 2006 part-time as assistant clerk, then taking on the full-time clerk position in December of 2011. As the clerk, Peg is responsible for keeping books, doing payroll and posting payments for BKP. She also sometimes works with insurance companies in situations when they would deny a claim.

KCS to contract for solar field on district campus

The Kenton City Schools will be getting a portion of its electricity from a solar plant located on the school property in the near future. Superintendent Jennifer Penczarski said the board of education agreed at its meeting on Monday evening to enter into a contract with Solar 1, LLC to allow the company to develop a 776-kW solar system near the Kenton Elementary building. The exact location of the solar panels will be determined by the school and Solar 1 within the next 90 days, but, said Penczarski, the location of the solar field will not conflict with any future construction of a 7-12 building on the property.
