Summer is an exciting time for children to enjoy playtime with friends, a family vacation or time at the pool. But for many children who receive free and reduced-price meals at school, summer can mean hunger.

In response to another hot spring day in Hardin County on Thursday, people of all ages found relief from the heat at the splash park at Murray Park in Kenton.

Ohio 31 just south of Kenton is expected to close approximately two days next week for railroad repairs, according to the weekly construction update from the Ohio Department of Transportation. The closing is expected to begin Wednesday, June 6 between Bales Road and County Road 160, south of the city of Kenton.

An officer was dispatched to 980 Meadow Lane Apartments in reference to a vehicle that had been damaged. The officer spoke with the owner of the vehicle, who stated she believes the suspect put feces on top of her vehicle.

Sheena Striker (left) began her first week on Tuesday as the director of the Hardin County Historical Museums. Striker, who had been the assistant director, replaces Linda Iams, who retired last week after 18 years as director.

MOUNT VICTORY — Twenty-nine members of the Ridgemont High School Class of 2018 will graduate during ceremonies set for 7 p.m. Friday at the school. The valedictorian is Alexis Blake Elliott. Her school activities include FFA, national chapter presenter at FFA National Convention, state presenter at FFA State Convention, National Honor Society and golf.
