A Kenton man was placed on community control for five years after he pleaded guilty to theft charges in a case heard in Hardin County Common Pleas Court. According to court records from Prosecutor Brad Bailey’s office, Charles Bradley Adkins, 726 Tracy St., Kenton, was charged with three counts of petty theft and one charge of theft from a person in a protected class.

The 2018 Conservation Tillage Club breakfast program series will continue on Tuesday, Feb. 6 at the Plaza Inn Restaurant in Mt. Victory. Each session will start at 7:30 a.m. with a complimentary buffet breakfast followed by the program at 8 a.m. The final session will be held on Feb. 20.

MARION — Auditions for the Marion Palace Theatre’s mystery/comedy dinner theatre production, “You Have the Right to Remain Dead” will be held in the May Pavilion at the theater on Sunday, Feb. 18 from 1 to 3 p.m. and Monday, Feb. 19 from 6 to 8 p.m.

ADA -- Soprano Chelsie Cree of Toledo will present a vocal recital at 7 p.m. on Feb. 4 in Presser Hall at Ohio Northern University. The concert is free and open to the public.

ADA — An Ada man escaped serious injuries after he drove his car on top of a guard rail and then flipped the vehicle top down into the water of a creek south of Ada on Wednesday afternoon. According to Hardin County Sheriff’s Deputy Isaac Woltz, officers were dispatched to an accident on Ohio 235 between Ohio 309 and the village of Ada.

No injuries were reported at a structure fire on South Leighton Street in Kenton on Wednesday night. Firefighters from the Kenton Fire Department were dispatched at 7:17 p.m. to the house fire at the residence of Adam Bowermaster, 118 S. Leighton St.

The annual campaign for the United Way of Hardin County has received pledges of $172,771.05, said Executive Director Darlene Foreman. That is 79 percent of the UW’s goal of $220,000 with a few businesses yet to report their pledges, she said.

The Hardin County Chamber and Business Alliance is planning its 2nd Annual Student Job and Career Fair and is seeking local and regional businesses to participate. For companies looking to hire part-time or full-time positions, summer jobs or internships, this will be an opportunity to meet with 500-plus graduating high school seniors and juniors.
