Monthly recycling services hosted by Blanchard Town-ship/Dunkirk and Mount Victory/Hale Township are slated on Thursday, Sept. 28. The Blanchard Township/-Dunkirk recycling will be from 9 to 11:30 a.m. in Dunkirk in the parking lot of the former Price Funeral Home.

A Kenton man was sentenced to a total of 28 months in prison after a Hardin County Common Pleas Court jury found him guilty of drug charges According to court records from Prosecutor Brad Bailey’s office, Matthew Jarvis Beltz, 723 W. Lima St., Lot 47, was charged with one charge of possession of heroin and, in a second case, a single count of possession of heroin with a specific finding that the amount of heroin possessed was ten unit doses or more.

As we listen to the news of late there are many things to be concerned over, street demonstrations, North Korea, natural disasters in the form of hurricanes Harvey, Irma and now Maria. It has been refreshing to hear the stories of people helping one another during these times of crisis.

The Latter Rain Quartet will be singing this weekend at the following Kenton churches: Well of Grace Church, 525 N. ida St., at 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 23; and Kenton Full Gospel Church, 129 N. Wayne St., at 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 24.

Kenton Full Gospel Church, 129 N. Wayne St., will be hosting a night of Southern Gospel singing at 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 24. The quartets that will be singing are Jericho Road, Latter Rain and the Gary Lyons Family.

Payne Chapel will be accepting Walmart gift cards and monetary donations to be sent to the churches in Florida and Texas. People in those areas are still cleaning up from the aftermath of hurricanes Irma and Harvey.
