Belle Center UMC hosts fundraiser

BELLE CENTER — A soup and sandwiches fundraiser is set for Saturday, Feb. 20 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. or until supplies run out at the Belle Center United Methodist Church, 202 E. Main St., Belle Center. Serving will be out of the church basement so people should enter through the back.

Farmers required to obtain pesticide recertification

Some farmers have received a notice that informs them that their current pesticide applicator license will expire at the end of March 2016 and that they must complete their continuing education hours to renew before this date. The cost of renewal has increased since the last time and it will now cost $65.

County Pork Banquet slated

The Hardin County Pork Producers will hold their annual pork banquet on Saturday, March 12 at St. John's Evangelical Church, starting at 6:30 p.m. The fun-filled evening will include selection of the queen and scholarship recipients as well as amazing food and door prizes.

Sheriff wants officers cleared for duty

It may be April or later before local officers involved in a shootout are cleared to return to normal duty. Hardin County Sheriff Keith Everhart said today he is hoping not to wait that long. Steve Davis, of Kenton, allegedly wounded Police Officer Skyler Newfer on Feb. 6 and exchanged gunfire with one other officer and two deputies before he was shot and died.
