A state grant is helping Kenton City Schools’ students explore career options and expand learning opportunities. The Kenton High School Kommunity Konnector program, funded by the grant, was the highlight of Monday night’s Kenton school board meeting.

Members of the Kenton High School Marching Band will be getting new uniforms. The Kenton City Schools’ Board of Education on Monday night approved a plan to advance the Kenton Band Boosters up to $20,000 toward the $40,000 purchase of 90 to 100 uniforms from Stanbury Uniforms.

ALGER — An Alger councilman continued to pursue his plans for an after school program for the youth of the village. J.P. Hunt had suggested at council’s previous meeting the vandalism and negative behavior by some young people in the village might be reduced if they were provided organized activities.

Applications are now being accepted for the 2016 Hardin County Citizens Sheriff’s Academy. The academy is scheduled for Tuesdays, April 5 to May 24 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the sheriff’s office, 1025 S. Main St., Kenton.

MOUNT VICTORY — Being an EMT (emergency medical technician) is all about treating everyone as family, according to Kathy Ansley. Sacrificing time with her family is part of the job as an EMT, said Ansley, who serves as the chief for the Southeast Hardin Ambulance District.

Participants for the twenty-fourth annual Hardin Leadership class, a program designed for the development of informed and effective community leaders, are being recruited now until March. Hardin Leadership is sponsored and conducted by the Hardin Leadership Steering Committee.
