USV part of group to form Career Network

BELLEFONTAINE — Upper Scioto Valley is part of a three-school consortium through the Midwest Regional Educational Service Center planning to create a Career Network for students. The program is expected to be funded by a Straight A Fund grant through the Ohio Department of Education.

Roberts leads board at community school

Doug Roberts was elected board president of the Hardin County Community School during the board’s reorganizational meeting on Jan. 26. Eric Hoffman will serve as vice president. The board set its monthly meetings for the fourth Tuesday of the month at 7:30 a.m. in the school’s board room at 400 Decatur St., Kenton.

Ada library gets grant

ADA — The Ada Public Library has been awarded a Books for Children Grant from the Libri Foundation, a nationwide non-profit organization which donates new children's books to small, rural public libraries in the United States).

Kenton woman sentenced

A Kenton woman was placed on community control after she pleaded guilty to charges in a case heard in Hardin County Common Pleas Court. According to court records from Prosecutor Brad Bailey’s office, Haley McKenzie Hayter, 431 E. Carrol St., Kenton, pleaded guilty to one count each of possession of heroin and tampering with evidence.

Red Cross responds to Levings Street fire

Volunteers with the American Red Cross of Hardin County responded to a home Sunday on Levings Street in Kenton. Red Cross volunteers Daryl Flowers and Amy Huber responded to the call for help at the home and provided the family of three, one adult and two children, with temporary shelter and assistance for immediate needs such as food and clothing.
