Community Foundation funds recover from market losses

The volatile stock market has taken its toll on many funds in recent weeks, but the Hardin County Community Foundation has recovered to be ahead for the year. The foundation started 2015 with assets of $5,517,739, and is up about $45,000 as of this week, reported Keith Gensheimer, finance chair, at Tuesday’s quarterly meeting of the foundation board.

Forecast shows narrowing of KCS carryover

With little fanfare, the Kenton Board of Education on Monday night accepted the district’s five-year forecast through fiscal year 2020. It shows expenditures exceeding revenue for the next five years and a resulting narrowing of the district’s carryover from $4,364,673 at the close of fiscal year 2015 to a forecasted $1,728,470 by fiscal year 2020.

Alger BPA sets new water rates

ALGER — The water meter system is nearly completed and the Alger Board of Public Affairs is preparing for the coming changes. Alger water consumers have paid $52 per month as their bulk rate, and the board is hoping to make the change in billing as painless as possible, members said Monday night.

Ada board hears good news in financial report

ADA — With the help of a second .75 income tax levy approved by the voters in 2013, Ada Schools Treasurer Christy Beaschler’s five-year forecast for the district is looking up. While the five-year forecast uses some assumptions and is not 100 percent accurate, it offers the district a look at where it currently sits financially and where things are possibly headed.
