Health board learns more about inspection program

The Kenton-Hardin Board of Health gave a second reading to new regulations which would require an inspection of wells and septic systems as part of a real estate transfer. The Real Estate Inspection Program would allow the county to identify systems which are failing or discharging off site, said Director of Environmental Services Shane Lotts.

Workers from the DMK Development Group place the expansion joints for a roof for one of the buildings at the new Ada retirement center on the town’s northern limits. According to Project Superintendent Benji Curtis, when the facility is completed, it will feature 42 units in the skilled care portion and 37 assisted living units.

KCS third graders performed better on reading test

Kenton City Schools’ third graders performed better on the Ohio Department of Education’s reading proficiency test than what was reported in the Times last week. Superintendent Jennifer Penczarski, speaking at Monday’s school board meeting, said the figures released by the state last week and reported by the Times included just the spring administration of the test.

Two grants to aid KCS students

More than $340,000 from two grants will help K-12 students at Kenton City Schools. Superintendent Jennifer Penczarski said a Community Connections grant of about $120,000 was awarded to the Hardin County Chamber and Business Alliance with KCS as a community partner.
