ADA — Ohio Northern University is currently registering organizations, businesses and residents for its third annual Ada Civic Engagement (ACE) Day to be held on Saturday, Aug. 22 from 10 a.m. to noon. A partnership with the village of Ada, the ACE Day program provides opportunities for ONU’s first-year students to not only engage with the community but also contribute to the village’s beautification.

DUNKIRK — The monthly supper at the Hardin Northern Community Center will be Tuesday, July 28 from 5 to 7 p.m. Anyone who worships, lives or works in the Hardin Northern School District is invited to the meal.

Backpack Blessing will be held at the Upper Scioto Valley School cafeteria from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, July 25. USV students will be given free backpacks and school supplies.

ADA — The southeast quadrant of Ada has been dealing with problematic flooding, and the village council was made aware of the specifics of the issue at a utilities committee meeting following the council meeting Tuesday night.

Third-grade students throughout Hardin County performed well on this spring’s Ohio Department of Education reading proficiency test, but one district in particular is crowing about its results.

The Kenton City Schools Board of Education is expected to decide Monday night if it will accept either bid for two former school building sites.
