Kenton AMVETS post seeks more members

A call is going out to all area veterans to support the only surviving veterans’ service post remaining in Kenton. John Murray, who is the current state-appointed commander of Kenton’s AMVETS Post 1994, said the post is looking for support from its members and hoping to attract new one.

Kenton loses out on grant for park trail

Kenton’s plans to develop a recreational trail at the city’s Wharton Park have suffered a setback. Safety Service Director Jim Hites was informed that the city’s proposal was not selected for a grant in the highly competitive Recreational Trails Program through the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.

Rogers files for commissioner

Randy Rogers filed petitions this week seeking re-election as a Hardin County commissioner in the Republican primary on March 15, 2016. Rogers, of Kenton, is serving his first four-term term.

Railwork work on Bales Road

CSX Railroad has informed Kenton officials that it is closing the track on Bales Road to repair a defective rail. This work should be completed by Nov. 12, according to Burl Helton, public works superintendent.

Police Reports: November 6, 2015

John L. Schimmoeller, Rawson, was traveling south on North Cherry Street toward the intersection of East Columbus Street. As Schimmoeller was coming to a stop at a stop sign, Diane R. Neuhauser, 16427 Lindsey Drive, who was traveling westbound on E. Columbus Street, attempted to make a right-hand turn onto N. Cherry Street.
