ALGER — At their first meeting this month, the Alger council agreed to install a second stop sign at the intersection of McConnell and Lee streets in hopes the new device would keep large trucks out of a resident’s yard.

McGUFFEY — A series of communication problems seemed to concern three separate groups at Monday’s Upper Scioto Valley Board of Education meeting.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — The Riverdale Board of Education was given a summary of board policy updates at its regular meeting Monday evening. The first two revised policies concerned keeping up-to-date with laws and policies from the Ohio Department of Education regarding principal and other administrator evaluation, as well as standards-based teacher evaluation.

Several Benjamin Logan students are scheduled to receive their state degrees at the Ohio State FFA Convention. They are Grace Barger, Noah Nicholl, Dillion Park, Erica Wilson, Cassondra Coil, Chance Coil, Jessie Griffin, Robert Brown and Taylor Miller.

The High Flyers 4-H Club met April 14 at 6:30 p.m. at the Epworth United Methodist Church.

Trenton Reed, 212 S. Cherry St., was arrested on a bench warrant through the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office.

When Lauren Weaver sees the light bulbs come on in her students when they learn something new, that’s when she knows she’s done her job right. Weaver, a native of Grand Rapids, Mich., is in her first year as director and lead teacher at the Kenton First United Methodist Christian Preschool.

The Kenton First United Methodist Church Christian Preschool will be holding an open house from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 25. If parents choose to enroll their children during the open house, the registration fee is half off.
