Kenton grad takes part in archaeological dig A Kenton man spent two weeks on his hands and knees in an Israeli cave this summer searching for human remains and tools at an archaeological site estimated to be at least 50,000 years old. Forest woman gets 5 years for attempts to set homes on fire As Kim Wise faced Judge Scott Barrett on Wednesday in Hardin County Common Pleas Court, it was hard for most who were familiar with her case not to reflect on how worse her situation might be if her cigarette lighter had worked. The Forest woman was convicted by a jury in June on 16 counts, including 11 charges of aggravated arson. Read More
Break-in, theft of Murphy Oil results in prison time A Chillicothe man was sent to prison for more than six years after he pleaded guilty to charges in Hardin County Common Pleas Court. According to court records from Prosecutor Brad Bailey’s office, David Keith Smith, Chillicothe, was found guilty of one charge each of breaking and entering, grand theft and engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity at a Kenton business. Health board learns more about inspection program The Kenton-Hardin Board of Health gave a second reading to new regulations which would require an inspection of wells and septic systems as part of a real estate transfer. The Real Estate Inspection Program would allow the county to identify systems which are failing or discharging off site, said Director of Environmental Services Shane Lotts. Read More
