RIDGEWAY — The planned Aug. 22 dedication of the new Ridgemont preK-12 school is being postponed because work on the building is running slightly behind schedule. However, the 2015-16 school year will open Aug. 24 as planned, said Superintendent Emmy Beeson in comments after Thursday’s school board meeting.

DOLA — With good news in his hand, Superintendent Doug Roberts thanked the Hardin Northern School District for a successful term as its leader. The good news came in the form of a report based on the results of May’s third grade reading test, which showed Hardin Northern, for the second consecutive year, leads the county.

WASHINGTON, D.C.— A Hardin Northern High School graduate has been honored for his role in a successful emergency landing of a Delta Air Lines flight last December.

ADA — Students attending Ada Schools and all other schools around Ohio will no longer be taking the PARCC math and English language arts tests.

RIDGEWAY — When the Ridgemont School District was seeking renewal of its .75 percent income tax during a special election in May, Superintendent Emmy Beeson said the revenue could help provide computers to all students.

A probation officer from the Hardin County Common Pleas Court was sentenced to 10 days in jail and was identified as a sexual offender in a case heard this week in Hardin County Municipal Court.

A Kenton woman was sent to prison for nearly seven years after pleading guilty to two felony charges in Hardin County Common Pleas Court. According to court records from Prosecutor Brad Bailey’s office, Amy Lynn Wells, 15308 TR 114, Kenton, was found guilty of one charge each of burglary and receiving stolen property.

ADA — Ohio Northern University is currently registering organizations, businesses and residents for its third annual Ada Civic Engagement (ACE) Day to be held on Saturday, Aug. 22 from 10 a.m. to noon. A partnership with the village of Ada, the ACE Day program provides opportunities for ONU’s first-year students to not only engage with the community but also contribute to the village’s beautification.

DUNKIRK — The monthly supper at the Hardin Northern Community Center will be Tuesday, July 28 from 5 to 7 p.m. Anyone who worships, lives or works in the Hardin Northern School District is invited to the meal.

Backpack Blessing will be held at the Upper Scioto Valley School cafeteria from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, July 25. USV students will be given free backpacks and school supplies.
