It was a little program called Google Earth that led Nathan Saylor to where he is today. Not his physical location, that is, but rather in his career field.

A Kenton man was sent to prison after pleading guilty to charges in the Hardin County Common Pleas Court. According to court records from Prosecutor Brad Bailey’s office, Daniel Ray Wright, 398 E. Forest Road, Apt. H 86, Kenton, was found guilty of one count of burglary.

George and Barb Wyndham spent their summer vacation visiting “their kids.” Their trip took them to the other side of the world and included updates on 15 of the 20 Japanese members of their extended family.

MOUNT VICTORY — Andy Clarridge of Page Engineering visited the Mount Victory Council meeting Thursday night to update council on the village’s ongoing projects. With all new meters having been installed from the water line project, some have begun to sink and settle and will need to be revisited by the contractor.

FOREST — The Forest community will honor two women who are known throughout the village for their strong work ethic and their sense of humor. Peggy Vanderpool has been named the grand marshal of Friday’s Tree Town Festival parade and Joann Gault is being recognized with the Community Spirit Award.

Shane Morris was found not guilty on all charges after a jury deliberated for less than an hour in a trial in the Hardin County Common Pleas Court on Wednesday.

There are several openings for mayors, council members, board of education members, trustees and fiscal officers throughout Hardin County, but few taking steps to fill those spots in the fall election.

ADA — Residents of the 300 block of Ream Street in Ada made the village council aware of severe flooding problems in the area at the regular council meeting Tuesday evening. Tom VanBuskirk, who owns a rental in the block, said because of the basement flooding, he has had to perform numerous repairs on the property.

The Tree Town Festival’s 10th annual Church in the Park service at Gormley Park in Forest will feature a special guest this year who many may recognize. John Godwin will be presenting a talk on “faith, family and ducks” during the service at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, July 12.
