Van Buren shuts down Lady Falcons 2-0

VAN BUREN — It isn’t easy to counter attack when there are six or seven defenders near the box. Nor is it easy to pass or win the midfield when the formation isn’t recognized. Each of those aspects of the Van Buren’s game plan heading into Tuesday’s Division III girls soccer sectional semifinal against the Riverdale proved effective in the Black Knights’ 2-0 victory at Van Buren.

The Trophy Bassmasters of Kenton traveled to one of their favorite destinations as the tournament site was the Detroit River out of Trenton. Mich. Much like Lake St Clair earlier in the season, the Detroit Diver has big smallmouth bass and numbers as well. As an extra bonus big largemouth are also plentiful.

The current restroom facility, which was constructed over 50 years ago, has limited privacy and is not compliant with the American Disabilities Act (ADA.) General James Robinson and his wife, Hester, (aka David Faulkner and Delores Crawford) meet visitors to Grove Cemetery on Saturday during the Walk Through the Tombstones tour. About 80 people took part onthe program which shared the histories of seven people buried at the cemetery and relayed their part in the community.
