Youth can earn money learning about mental health careers Area students will be given an opportunity to earn money while they learn about careers in the mental health field. Prevention Awareness Support Services (PASS) has partnered with the Family Resource Center and the Mental Health Recovery Services Board of Allen, Auglaize and Hardin counties are sponsoring the event, which will last five weeks. Participants will focus on mental health and social work careers. The program is available for youth entering the 9th through 12th grades and wishing to learn more about the demands in that field. OSU alumni treated to music show Members of the Ohio State Alumni Club of Hardin County were treated to music from the Beatles at their annual dinner on Tuesday night in Kenton. William Ballenger, director of the OSU School of Music, and assistant Pete Tender, sang and played a selection of Beatles’ songs. The “Musical Magical Mystery Tour,” Ballenger said, was inspired by a study abroad to London a year ago in which they visited various Beatles landmarks. Read More

Fishing class There were 55 young people who took part in the Get Hooked on Fishing event on Saturday at France Lake. They caught crappie, large mouth bass, blue gill and rock bass. Five seniors lead Raiders to first regional game since 2001 BELLEFONTAINE — The Ben Logan softball team will be playing in the regional softball tournament for the first time since 2001 when it takes the field against West Jefferson at 5 p.m. today at Wright State University. And while it should be no surprise the Lady Raiders have had a successful tournament run after going 25-2 this season and winning the CBC’s Mad River Division for the second year in a row, this season’s regional trip is one that has been years in the making for coach Amanda Davis and her five seniors Haley Wilson, Baylie LeVan, LeAnn Regula, Grace Deardurff and Olivia Roose.
