Hardin Northern Elementary recently paid tribute to the local volunteers who assist with the Project BEAR reading program at the school. The volunteers donated a total of 247 hours in the program and another 53 hours helping in classrooms for a total of 300 volunteer hours.

DOLA — Cory-Rawson scored four runs in the top of the seventh inning to rally for a 7-4 victory over host Hardin Northern in a Division IV sectional baseball contest on Tuesday afternoon. After falling behind 3-0 after the top of the first inning, the Polar Bears plated single runs in the first, third, fifth and sixth innings to grab a 4-3 advantage, setting the stage for the Cory-Rawson comeback in the seventh frame.

ADA — Delphos St. Johns took over with a four-run fifth inning on the way to a 7-3 sectional softball win over Ada at War Memorial Park on Tuesday. Connor Frazier had a double and Jaylin Burkhart added an RBI single to lead the Bulldogs at the plate. Brandon Hull and Landon Blankenship both added hits for the Bulldogs.

Hardin Northern honored its junior high and high school students in the music department at the Spring Band and Choir Concert last week. The following awards and achievements were announced:

Elementary students at Hardin Northern Schools got a close look at their past during Living History Day in the district on Monday.

A program created by the Hardin County Sheriff's Office and the Hardin County Recovery Court will encourage families to share time together outside and learn to fish. "Get Hooked On Fishing" is being offered on Saturday, May 18 at France Lake in Kenton by Applied Aquatic Educators Mike Conley and Aaron McPherson.

Members of the Benjamin Logan FFA received accolades at the recent Ohio FFA Convention. Senior Landon Wenger, was named the state winner in the area of Forestry Products and Management. He owns and operates Wenger’s Wintergreens. His provide a variety of holiday decor from Christmas trees to grave blankets to wreaths and roping.

Members of the Ada Kiwanis Club met on Tuesday, May 7 at the Kewpee in Lima to thank the Shutt family for their assistance at the club’s recently held 67th annual Pancake and Sausage Day.
