McGUFFEY — Get to know who you are and be comfortable with who you are not. That was part of the message from Jeff Yalden’s talk to Upper Scioto Valley students on Tuesday morning, a talk that aimed to help build student self-esteem by realizing self-worth.

RIDGEWAY — Ridgemont scored two runs in each of the first three innings and put the game away with four runs in the fifth inning in a 10-0 softball victory over Crestline on Tuesday afternoon. Ridgemont, which had eight hits in the game, took advantage of the Bulldogs inability to find the strike zone as they drew nine walks in the game.

The Gophers, who drop to 4-15 on the season, led 3-1 after one inning before Crestline crossed home plated once in the third inning and four more times in the fourth frame to take control.

A Fredericktown man was taken into custody Tuesday afternoon and faces federal terrorism charges in connection with Monday’s fire at the Kenton Walmart. According to Kenton Police Chief Dennis Musser, Caleb Poole, 26, was arrested in the Columbus area by a group of officers from the FBI and Hardin County Crime Task Force.

Kenton Elementary School has announced students who received the May Leadership Award. The monthly award is based on students displaying attributes that include The 7 Habits as well as virtues such as Citizenship, Respect, Responsibility, Empathy, Caring, Teamwork, Fairness, Honesty, Cooperation, Integrity, and Perseverance.

The Kenton Police Department is working with the FBI and BCII in its search to locate the person who set a cart of merchandise on fire at the Kenton Walmart on Monday evening. According to Chief Dennis Musser, a suspect was seen on security cameras placing items in a shopping cart and setting it on fire. No description of the individual is being released at this time, said Musser.
