LIMA — Kenton took home runner-up honors in the junior varsity division of the Western Buckeye League Scholastic Bowl Tournament on Friday, May 3 at The Ohio State University at Lima. Shawnee was the champion in the junior varsity contest, finishing with a 7-1 record.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Riverdale pitcher Allison Donaugh tossed a one-hitter and the Falcons plated 13 runs in the third inning on the way to a 17-0 five-inning Division IV softball sectional victory over Pandora-Gilboa on Monday afternoon.

ADA — Marion Local pitcher Ashlyn Bohman kept Ada off balance most of the game and the Flyers were able to find their stroke at the plate in the late innings on the way to a 10-3 Division IV sectional softball win over the host Bulldogs at War Memorial Park on Monday night.

The High Flyers 4-H club met April 23 at 6:30 p.m. in the Epworth United Methodist Church. President Shaidyn Hughes called the meeting to order. A health report was given by Carter Cannode and a safety report was given by Jill Lones.

There is little turnover among the workers at Cessna Transport, said co-owner Kirk Shepherd, and there is are good reasons for that. The company pays their workers well and treats them with respect, said Shepherd. Anyone who comes to the company seeking a job, he said, should be a good fit and willing to be a part of a professional family. Located south of Kenton on U.S. 68, Cessna Transport is taking part in In-Demand Jobs week through OhioMeansJobs of Hardin County. The company, which Shepherd owns in partnership with his brothers, Lance and Mark, will have as many as 22 of its trucks on the road at any given time, Shepherd said. All of them are tankers, he continued, and 94 percent of the cargo hauled is hazardous material.

While she may technically be considered an outsider, growing up in West Liberty, Kim Reisinger has spent her 12 years in Kenton helping and giving back to the community. Kim has spent the past two years as the Manager of Business Development and Employer Services at Hardin Memorial Hospital.

Brice Ferguson of Ada and Emma Miller of Hardin Northern were selected as the Kenton Elks Lodge Teenagers of the Year at a dinner at the lodge Sunday evening. Each teen earned a $1,000 scholarship.

Each of Hardin County's five school districts identified its Teenager of the Year to compete in the Kenton Elks' competition.

ADA — Upper Scioto Valley’s Brady Hipsher crossed the finish line first in the 800 run and was second in the 1,600 run to lead area individuals at the Ada Invitational track meet on Saturday. Hipsher crossed the line first in the 800 run in 2:06.92 and was a close second in the 1,600 run in 4:41.92.

LIMA — The Kenton boys tennis team finished eighth in the Western Buckeye League tournament and eighth overall in the league standing this past weekend. The Wildcats were led by their top doubles pair of Ian Lyons and Rocco Longbrake, who finished seventh in first doubles.
