Vaccination season has begun. The sooner that parents make appointments to have their children vaccinated, the better. "Right now they can get in pretty quick," says Polly Downing, a public health nurse at Kenton-Hardin Health Department. "They really need to think about it right now. By the end of May and the beginning of June it starts filling up a bit."

The Kenton Wildcats brought home a 4-2 victory over Hardin Northern in Thursday’s baseball contest. The Polar Bears scored first with a run in the third inning and added another run in the fifth, but RBIs by Hunter LaRue and Cam Pulfer in the fourth and sixth innings helped the host Wildcats seal the win.

Kenton edged Hardin Northern 5-4 in a non-conference softball game on Thursday afternoon. The fifth inning was key for the Wildcats who scored four runs to erase a 3-1 HN lead.

With many young people facing graduation, OhioMeansJobs of Hardin County is encouraging grads to visit them and explore the careers and training offered through their services during In-Demand Jobs Week, May 6-10.

Kenton High School senior Abigail Hartshorn (seated, center) signed a letter of intent to continue her education and play tennis at Marietta College. Kentonites Monty and Spencer Vermillion recently won first place in this year’s 108th Ohio Intercity Bowling Tournament doubles event held in Lexington, Ohio at Lex Lanes. The duo shot a 1,376 actual score and a total of 1,574 with handicap.

The Upper Scioto Valley Ohio Hi-Point FFA Chapter held its annual member banquet on Sunday, April 28. More than 200 members and guests were present for a meal, slide show and awards. Several awards and degrees were handed out to the members as well as these special awards:

Volunteers from the Hardin County Democratic Party provided extra assistance at the S.O.U.P. Kitchen last week after two staff personnel had to leave for emergency purposes and were unable to return that day.
