Eikenbary wins opener at state tourney COLUMBUS — Days after qualifying for the 2019 OHSAA Individual Wrestling Championships for the first time in his high school career, Kenton junior Noah Eikenbary didn't wait long to notch his first victory. With his championship preliminary match against East Liverpool’s Skylor Wooley scoreless after one period, an escape and a takedown in the second period was all Eikenbary (220 pounds) needed for a 3-0 victory over Wooley in the Division II championship preliminaries on Thursday at Ohio State University’s Jerome Schottenstein Center. Pair of Raiders ousted from state tournament COLUMBUS — Even though their first trips to the 2019 OHSAA Individual Wrestling State Tournament didn’t end the way they hoped, Benjamin Logan juniors Joel Abbott and Steele Boysel are optimistic about the future. Abbott was pinned at the 1:15 mark by Jacob Potok of Akron St. Vincent St. Mary in at 145-pound bout at the Division II championship preliminaries on Thursday at the Jerome Schottenstein Center and later got pinned by Ontario’s Ethan Turnbaugh at the 4:45 mark in the Division II consolation round.
