BELLEFTONTAINE — Entering the 2018 cross country season, Ben Logan freshman Dani Widmark and her coach Mike Coder knew the Raiders’ top runner would have a chance to have a successful season and possibly even the opportunity to compete in the state meet if everything worked out just right.

The Ada High School Marching Band and Color Guard competed in the Tri-Valley Classic in Dresden on Saturday, Oct. 20. The color guard won the award for best color guard regardless of class with a score of 91.

The sun catches a group of maple trees this morning on Township Road 155 in Buck Township. The leaves in the county are turning late this year with the colors about two weeks behind normal.

Members of the Kenton-OHP FFA Chapter and 2017 graduates of Kenton High School (from left) Kolt Buchenroth, Kelli Haudenschield and Hayden Sherman traveled to the 91st FFA Convention last week in Indianapolis, Indiana where each was awarded their FFA American Degree.

Returning to the place where his interest in physical therapy began, Kirby Rawlins has come full circle. Kirby recently took a physical therapist position at the Ohio Health Hardin Wellness Center in Kenton, the same place he visited twice while at Kenton High School for sports injuries.

TIFFIN — On Saturday during the OHSAA Regional Cross Country Championships at Hedges-Boyer Park in Tiffin, Riverdale senior Kendra Collier’s 32nd place finish was good enough for a qualifying spot in the Division III state meet. She finished the race with a time of 20:21.24 and is the first runner in the tenure of Riverdale coach Kim Rall to qualify for the OHSAA Cross Country State Championships.

TIFFIN — The Kenton Lady Wildcats cross country team placed 13th in Saturday’s Division II regional competition in Tiffin. Kenton finished its season in the 13-team field with a total time of 1:50:42.74 and a score of 287.

The Trophy Bassmasters of Kenton continued their assault on Lake Erie recently as 15 anglers applied their talents and skill to try and capture the five biggest bass of the day. Don Kraft of Alger was the double winner for the day as he brought in the largest five bass creel.
