The Hardin Northern Garden Club gathered in the parking lot of the First Methodist Church to car pool for a tour of a few local gardens on July 6. Twelve members toured the awesome colorful flower gardens of club members Rosemary Fitzgerald and Kay Doll.

Living in Kenton’s First Ward for over three decades, John McEntee felt it was time to give back to the community. Since January, John has served on the Kenton City Council as the representative for the southeast section of the city.

The Kenton Little League 12u All Stars defeated Maumee 17-6 on Friday night to win the District 10 championship. Luke Leffler and Tim Wilkinson had home runs for Kenton, which travels to North Canton on Saturday to play in the state level tournament.

The Kenton High School cheerleaders won a pair of awards at the Universal Cheerleaders Association camp at Bowling Green State University last week. The Wildcats went home with first place for their rally routine.

Owners Mike Gatteri and Bridgette Hoel celebrated the opening of Health Markets at 207 W. Franklin St. in Kenton on Friday. The new business will offer customers health insurance, Medicare assistance, life insurance and supplemental policies.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Everything that Ron Lauck taught his daughters Amber Warren and Kim Rall is still fresh in their minds. Lauck, a Riverdale High School (RHS) graduate, was a member of the RHS track and field team.

Paul and Nancy Oestreich of Ada were awarded one of the spring beautification awards from Keep Hardin County Beautiful. Their home is surrounded with beautiful gardens consisting of a wide variety of perennials and annuals.

This year’s Relay For Life of Hardin County will honor the woman who was organizing the event. Amy Cyrus had served as the event leader last year and was working with Allie Hermiller to get this year’s event in order when she lost her battle with cancer in February.
