A neighbor, business and students to be recognized at Tree Town Festival

Forest honorees

FOREST — The Forest Tree Town Festival, which will run July 6-8 at Gormley Park, will honor one of its most valued neighbors. Clayton Bash was named the grand marshal of the festival for 2018. His family farm abuts the village’s Gormley Park to the east and he has been a part of the Forest community his entire life.

Blue Star Mothers support ‘Save the 22’

Helping veterans

Each day, there are about 20 veterans who commit suicide. Thanks to a craft and vendor fair on June 23, the Hardin County Blue Star Mothers raised $675 to go toward veteran suicide prevention. Kathy Tracy, president of the Blue Star Mothers, said each year she has a “president’s project,” picking out a 501(c)(3) they would like to contribute to or do something for.

Club aims to raise funds to help with projects at HN Community Center

DUNKIRK — With upgrades made to the roof and kitchen floor at Dunkirk’s Hardin Northern Community Center (HNCC), the Quilt Squares, a local quilting club, is aiming to raise funds for the projects. According to HNCC member Gregg King, the building has been recently fitted with two new roofs and one repaired roof, and also had a new floor put in the kitchen area.
