MT. BLANCHARD — The McComb Panthers dominated the second quarter en route to a 42-19 win over the Riverdale Falcons Friday night. McComb (6-1, 5-0 BVC) scored the only points of the first quarter when Clay Santos ran through the middle of the Falcon defense for a 41-yard touchdown with 6:02 left in the opening period.

Kenton High School held its Academic Awards Banquet on Wednesday night, Oct. 4, honoring individuals for academic performance. Academic Awards are given to students meeting specific end of year grade point average requirements for the previous school year.

Dale B. and Jane A. (McKinley) Sherman are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. The couple were married Oct. 15, 1967 at Salem United Church of Christ by the late Rev. James Wire.

Hardin County Retired Teachers met on Friday, Sept. 15 at noon at Forest United Methodist Church. President Joyce Hubbell welcomed 15 members and then introduced guests Jamie Dellifield, B. J. Woodruff and Dan Robinson.

The Hardin County Republican Women met on Wednesday, Sept. 20 at the Republican Headquarters. The meeting was presided over by Vice President Becky Stevenson, who called the meeting to order and led the women in the pledge of allegiance.

On Sept. 29, the Hardin Northern FFA held its annual homecoming chicken BBQ. The senior FFA members and officer team helped cook the chicken, pork chops and potatoes, set up the Ag building, and curbside pick-up.

After suffering abuse as a child, then as a young wife, a Hardin County woman now wants to minister to other women and children who have been abused. Charlotte Gooden shared her story of abuse and her strength to break free of it as guest speaker at the 2017 Candlelight Vigil to remember victims of domestic violence, hosted by Crossroads Crisis Center at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Kenton.

Hardin County Sheriff’s Deputy Christina Henderson (center) was named Deputy of the Year at the sheriff’s annual appreciation and awards program on Thursday night.

ELIDA — The Kenton boys soccer team’s Western Buckeye League title hopes took a big hit on Thursday night. Elida’s Jake Taylor scored the game’s only goal off a header he put past Kenton keeper Luke Woodruff just over three minutes into the game as the host Bulldogs edged the Wildcats 1-0 in a battle of the top two teams in the WBL.

BOWLING GREEN — Thursday’s Division III district round at Stone Ridge Golf Club was doubly sweet for Riverdale freshman Andrew Kuenzli. The first-year varsity golfer sank a rare hole-in-one on No. 8, and it helped him slide into an individual state qualification.
