Twelve area high school students were recognized as Teenagers of the Month for November by the Kenton Elks Lodge during a luncheon at lodge Thursday in Kenton.

The 30th annual Christmas Around the Square Craft Fair will be held on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Hardin County Courthouse in downtown Kenton. Sponsored by the Hardin County Chamber and Business Alliance, the event will feature three floors filled with arts, crafts, and home party dealers.

The Blue Star Mothers October monthly meeting was held with 13 members/associates in attendance. The meeting was called to order by President Kathy Tracy.

Members of Local 1385 of United Textile Workers of America conducted informational picketing during their lunch time Wednesday at the Wilson Sporting Goods plant in Ada. About 35 held signs and chanted together demanding an improvement in benefits and “a fair contract.”

Students at Kenton Elementary School surround author Paul Orshoski after he talked to them about his experiences writing poetry and prose. The author of 15 children’s books such as “Dad Does It All” and “My Sitter Is A T-Rex!” is from Sandusky and a former principal, coach and educator.

Hardin Memorial Hospital’s landscaping facelift to go along with the remodeling of the hospital earn it an August beautification award from the Keep Hardin County Beautiful Commission. Program manager Deb Phillips said it features beautiful perennials all around the hospital and grounds.
