COLUMBUS — Throughout his high school wrestling career, Benjamin Logan senior Cole Houser won four sectional championships and was a three-time district placer as well as a two-time state wrestling individual tournament qualifier.

And because of that, he erased a one-point deficit with a takedown to defeat Fremont St. Joseph Central Catholic’s Nate Vasquez 4-3 in the Division III championship preliminaries of the State Wrestling Individual Tournament on Thursday at the Jerome Schottenstein Center.

Benjamin Logan senior Cole Houser didn’t want his high school wrestling career to come to an end on Thursday, but after losing a major decision (10-1) to Aurora’s Andy Garr in the Division II championship preliminaries, that suddenly became a real possibility.

The 2018 Division 1, 2, 3, 4 State Powerlifting Meet will be held at Kenton High School on Saturday. Kenton has won the meet, which is sponsored by the Kenton McDonalds, six consecutive years.

KISSIMMEE, Fla. — The Ohio Northern softball team defeated Illinois College 3-2, before suffering its first loss of the season 6-3 to Westminster (Pa.) during the Sunkissed Games in Kissimmee, Fla. on Thursday afternoon.

ADA — When Ada senior Chase Sumner walks through the tunnel and into Schottenstein Center today to compete in the Ohio High School Division III State Wrestling Tournament in Columbus, he knows it will be the first of many lasts.

The Kenton High School competition cheerleading squad was eighth of 22 teams competing in Division IV at the OASSA Cheerleading championship at St. John Arena in Columbus on Sunday.
