HARROD — Ridgemont girls basketball coach Tim Weyant liked his Lady Gophers’ chances of getting to cut down their first nets since 1990 after the tournament draw came out a couple weeks ago. And while it wasn’t easy, the Gophers did just that on Saturday night as they scored the game’s final four points after St. Henry had rallied from an 11-point fourth quarter deficit, to squeak out a 48-44 victory in Division IV sectional action at Allen East.

LIMA — A pair of Ada wrestlers will be advancing to next week’s Division III district wrestling match in Troy. Senior Chase Sumner will be making his fourth straight appearance in Troy after finishing second in the 145-pound weight class.

CLYDE — Led by Noah Eikenbary’s first place finish in the 195-pound weight class, Kenton advanced five wrestlers from sectional competition on Saturday to this week’s Division II District Tournament in Norwalk. Kenton placed sixth at the tournament at Clyde High School on Saturday.

BASCOM — The Riverdale girls basketball season was ended Saturday night in a sectional final game against Arlington at Hopewell-Loudon High School. The Falcons could not get anything going offensively, failing to hit double digits in any quarter en route to a one-sided 26-49 defeat.

ADA — The No. 24-ranked Ohio Northern women's basketball team fell to No. 2-seeded Marietta 85-68 on Saturday afternoon in the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament Championship game at the ONU Sports Center. The Polar Bears fall to 23-5 overall, while the Pioneers move to 24-4 and earn the OAC's automatic bid to the 2018 NCAA Div. III Women's Basketball tournament with the victory.
