Lady Raiders fall in sectional semifinals

TROTWOOD — A fourth quarter Ben Logan rally came up short as Milton-Union held off the Raiders 39-36 in a Division III sectional girls basketball matchup at Trotwood Madison High School on Wednesday night. The Raiders, who were seeded No. 8, finish their season with a 16-7 record.

USV girls ousted from sectional

COLDWATER — New Knoxville ended the Upper Scioto Valley girls basketball season, defeating the Lady Rams 60-26 in a Division IV sectional semifinal contest at Coldwater High School on Wednesday night. The No. 11 seeded Rams end the season with a 5-18 mark.

ONU men top Capital in OAC tourney semifinal

ADA — Ohio Northern pulled away in the final 10 minutes to post an 81-60 victory over Capital in the quarterfinals of the Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Tournament on Tuesday night at the ONU Sports Center. The third-seeded Polar Bears (18-8 overall) advance to Thursday's semifinals and will play at No. 2 seeded Marietta, while the sixth-seeded Crusaders end their season at 11-13.

Ottoville cruises by HN

PAULDING — Top-seeded Ottoville took control in the first quarter and never looked back on the way to a 58-8 victory over Hardin Northern in a Division IV sectional girls basketball matchup on Tuesday night. Hardin Northern finishes its season with a 3-20 mark.

Rams defeat Allen East in regular season finale

McGUFFEY — Upper Scioto Valley got off to a fast start and then put the game away in the third quarter in a 68-42 victory over Allen East in a non-league boys basketball contest on Tuesday night. The Rams, who finish their regular season at 18-4, jumped ahead 20-6 eight minutes into the game and 31-16 at halftime, before outscoring the visiting Mustangs 21-12 in the third quarter.

Katayama ready for 2nd state swim meet

ADA — Ada’s Klava Katayama is only a sophomore, but when it comes to experiencing the Ohio State Swimming Championships she already is a veteran. Katayama will be competing in the Ohio Division II meet, which features the top high school swimmers in the state, for a second straight year when she travels to Canton on Thursday to swim in the 50 freestyle and the 100 butterfly.

HN 7th grade girls win NWCC title

LIMA — The Hardin Northern seventh grade girls basketball team defeated Ridgemont 27-21 in the Northwest Central Conference junior high championship game on Saturday. Katie Good had 10 points to lead Hardin Northern, while Kylee Legge had 6 points, Aubry Smith finished with 4, Blair Hipsher and Ava Hopson had 3 each and Belle Wilson chipped in with a free throw.
