MOUNT VICTORY — Even though they had jumped out to a 16-6 first quarter lead over Mohawk on Saturday afternoon, the Ridgemont girls basketball team was still not hitting its full stride. But in the latter stages of the second quarter, the Gophers found an offensive rhythm that they would carry into the second half to pull away for the 57-21 win in the regular season finale.

VAN WERT — Led by Noah Eikenbary’s second place finish, the Kenton High School wrestling team had three wrestlers earn all-league honors at the Western Buckeye League tournament on Saturday. The Wildcats, who had seven wrestlers entered in the meet, finished eighth as a team with 44 points.

Rams outshoot NB

McGUFFEY — Upper Scioto broke open a tight game with a 19-10 advantage in the fourth quarter on the way to a 70-59 victory over North Baltimore in a non-league boys basketball game on Saturday night. The Rams led 18-16 after eight minutes and 31-28 at halftime before North Baltimore got within 51-49 going into the final eight minutes.

Cory-Rawson cruises to win over Polar Bears

DOLA — Cory-Rawson took a commanding early lead and then coasted through the second half on the way to an 89-42 victory over Hardin Northern in non-league boys basketball action on Saturday night. The visiting Hornets led 22-11 after eight minutes before outscoring Hardin Northern 29-2 in the second quarter to take a 51-13 lead at the intermission.

LTC defeats Bulldogs

LIMA — Lima Temple Christian took control in the second half, outscoring Ada by eight points, on the way to a 56-46 victory over the visiting Bulldogs in non-league boys basketball action on Saturday. The Pioneers led 14-11 after eight minutes and 24-22 at halftime before pulling ahead 37-30 after three quarters.

Urbana edges Raiders in double overtime

BELLEFONTAINE — Urbana outscored Ben Logan 7-6 in overtime to hold off the Raiders 50-49 in a Central Buckeye Conference matchup on Friday. The Raiders trailed 26-22 at halftime and 33-30 after three quarters before outscoring the Hillclimbers 13-10 in the fourth quarter to send the game to the extra session.
