ELIDA —Trailing Elida by three points with 22 seconds left, with possession of the ball and a winning Western Buckeye League record on the line, there was no panic in the Kenton Lady Wildcats on Thursday night. After a timeout, Jenna Manns took a pass from Ellie Miller and hit a basket in the paint while being fouled, giving her a chance to tie the game.

Late run pushes Red Devils past Falcons

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Riverdale and Arlington meet in a Division IV sectional final matchup a week from Saturday at Hopewell-Loudon. Watching their regular season match on Thursday, one would have thought it was the tournament matchup as both teams played like their seasons were on the line, exchanging the lead 15 times before Arlington used a 7-0 run n the final two minutes to pull for a 72-624 victory.

RIDGEWAY — The Ridgemont eighth grade boys basketball team defeated Upper Scioto Valley 59-43 in semi-final action of the Northwest Central Conference Junior High Boys Basketball Tournament on Thursday night. Landon Newland led all scorers for the Gophers with 28 points while Mason Stuck added 15.

Burger nets 41 in Polar Bear win

WESTERVILLE — Senior Nate Burger scored a career-high 41 points to lead Ohio Northern to an 82-68 men's basketball victory at Otterbein on Wednesday evening at the Rike Center. The Polar Bears improve to 17-7 overall and are 12-5 in the Ohio Athletic Conference, while the Cardinals are now 1-23 and 1-16.
