Lady Gophers best Fairlawn for the 13th win

MOUNT VICTORY — Priscilla Howland had 19 points and 11 rebounds to lead the way as Ridgemont pulled away to a 63-47 girls basketball victory over Fairlawn on Tuesday night. The Gophers jumped ahead 23-16 after one quarter and led 31-22 at halftime and 43-36 after three quarters before pulling away with a 20-13 advantage in the final eight minutes.

HN girls win in final seconds

DOLA — Quinn Stewart-Evans made two free throws with 1.6 seconds left in the game to rally Hardin Northern past Calvary Christian 39-38 on Tuesday night. The Polar Bears trailed 11-8 after one quarter and 24-12 at halftime before outscoring the visitors 16-6 in the third quarter and 11-8 in the final stanza.

Big fourth quarter sparks Gophers

DOLA — After making just one field goal over the final 12 minutes of the first half in Monday’s boys basketball game against Hardin Northern, Ridgemont had to find some offense in the second 16 minutes if the Gophers were going to pick up their second victory in three nights.

Sea dragons: February 13, 2018

The Hardin County Family YMCA Sea Dragons (385 points) were first overall in the tri-meet Saturday against Findlay YMCA Frogs (162 points) and Fostoria Y Gators (160 points). Both the girls team and the boys team earned first place.

Youth wrestling: February 13, 2018

ADA — Ohio Northern University hosted one of five regional competitions in the Miami Valley Kids Wrestling Association on Sunday. The Kenton Youth Wrestling Team had 32 wrestlers compete in eight-man brackets against kids from Miami East, Northridge, Sidney, Wapakoneta, Lima Bath, Greenon, Bluffton, Ottawa-Glandorf, Elida, Allen East, Clarke Shawnee, Cory Rawson, St. Marys, Ada and Lima Central Catholic.

Wildcats rebound with win over AE

Hosting a youthful Allen East squad less than 24 hours after Kenton’s most lopsided loss of the season, Wildcat basketball coach Matt McCullough wanted to see his boys basketball team take care of business early on Saturday night. He got his wish as the Wildcats opened up an eight-point lead after eight minutes and stretched it to more than 20 points by halftime in pulling away for an 81-50 victory over the Mustangs.
