Quick start propels Lady Wildcats to win

Kenton got off to a fast start, taking a 20-7 lead after one quarter, on the way to a 53-38 victory over visiting Waynesfield-Goshen in non-league girls basketball action on Saturday. The Wildcats, who improve to 14-6 on the season, were led by Haylee Bushong’s 19 points.

Rams top Cory-Rawson

McGUFFEY — Upper Scioto Valley rebounded from a tough league loss on Friday night with a 64-49 victory over Cory-Rawson on Saturday night. The Rams, who lost to Elgin on a last-second shot on Friday night, came out strong Saturday, outscoring the visiting Hornets 14-8 in the first quarter and building the lead to 34-18 by halftime.

Parkway blasts HN

DOLA — Parkway outscored Hardin Northern by 15 or more points in all four quarters on the way to blasting the Polar Bears 103-30 on Saturday night. The visiting Panthers took a 29-9 lead after one quarter before pushing the lead to 54-19 by halftime and 81-25 after the third eight minutes.

Falcon boys come up short against Bluffton

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Riverdale rallied from an early 10-point deficit to take a lead going into the fourth quarter of Saturday night’s boys basketball game against Bluffton. The Falcons could not finish the job, however, as the visiting Pirates outscored them 19-11 over the final eight minutes to come way with a 51-45 victory in the non-league contest.

Arcadia starts quick, holds off Lady Rams

McGUFFEY— Arcadia outscored Upper Scioto Valley in all four quarters on the way to a 56-33 victory in girls basketball action on Saturday night. The visiting Redskins jumped ahead 13-6 after eight minutes and 25-14 at halftime before putting the game away with a 15-5 advantage in the third quarter.

John Carroll rallies by ONU women

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS — John Carroll used a 13-2 run midway through the fourth quarter to overcome a seven-point deficit and upset No. 15 Ohio Northern 68-66 on Saturday afternoon. The Polar Bears fall to 20-3 overall and stay on top of the Ohio Athletic Conference with a 14-2 record, while the Blue Streaks improve to 6-17, 4-12.

Arn, BL relay advance to Southwest swim district

TROTWOOD — Ben Logan’s Macy Arn advanced to the district swim meet in three events during sectional competition at Trotwood-Madison High School on Saturday. Arn will be competing in the Division II district at Miami University after finishing second in the 50 free and third in the 100 free.

JCU staves off Polar Bear men

ADA — Ohio Northern overcame an 18-point first half deficit, but cold-shooting from long range and a late run by No. 24-ranked John Carroll enabled the Streaks to hold off the Polar Bears 90-80 on Saturday afternoon in men’s basketball action.

NORTH LEWISTOWN — The Benjamin Logan seventh grade girls basketball team was defeated by Tecumseh 46-9 in the CBC championship game at Indian Lake on Saturday. Scoring for the Raiders were Cheyenne Peterson with 3 points and Reese Plikerd, Elliot Bailey and Kiley Daniels all with 2 points each.
