CAREY — Ethan Shane finished as runner-up at 170 pounds as Riverdale, which took six wrestlers to the tournament, placed eighth at the Carey Classic on saturday. Bucyrus won the meet with 163 points, followed by Lakota (188) and Gibsonburg (242).

MOUNT VICTORY — Jayden Streets netted 37 points as Ridgemont earned its first victory of the season, defeating Riverdale 69-57 in a non-league boys basketball game on Saturday night. The Gophers, who led 21-11 after one quarter and 38-24 by halftime, are now 1-12 on the season.

ADA — Ryan Bruns had career-highs of 41 points and 17 rebounds to lead the Ohio Northern men's basketball team to a 108-87 victory over Muskingum on Saturday night at the ONU Sports Center. The Polar Bears (11-4 overall, 6-2 Ohio Athletic Conference) also got 29 points and eight assists from Nate Burger.

NEW CONCORD — The No. 10-ranked Ohio Northern women's basketball team rallied from an 11-point halftime deficit to post a 73-66 victory at Muskingum on Saturday night. The Polar Bears (14-1 overall) run their winning streak to 14 games and stay perfect in the Ohio Athletic Conference with an 8-0 record, while the Muskies fall to 6-9, 2-6.

CINCINNATI — Macy Arn led the way for the Ben Logan swim teams as the Raiders competed over the weekend in Southwest District Classic, which is the largest Division 1/Division II swim meet in Ohio. The prelim meet was held at 10 different locations with Ben Logan competing at Trotwood Madison High School.

The Hardin County YMCA will be holding the “February Frenzy” adult 3-on-3 basketball double elimination basketball tournament on Feb. 16-17. The tournament will have women and men divisions and is for all adults 18 and over.

Nearly the entire area high school basketball slate was wiped out Friday night because of inclement weather that swept through the area earlier in the day. As of presstime the only game still scheduled to be played was Riverdale at Arlington.

MOUNT VICTORY — Ridgemont scored the first 13 points of the game and was in control the rest of the way in a 56-32 win over Hardin Northern in Northwest Central Conference girls basketball action on Thursday night. The Gophers, winners of five straight, improve to 8-6 on the season and 4-1 in NWCC play. HN falls to 1-13, 0-5.

WAPAKONETA — Trailing first-place Wapakoneta by three points at halftime, Kenton took over in the third quarter on the way to a 59-50 victory in Western Buckeye League girls basketball action on Thursday, The Wildcats, 8-3 on the season and 2-2 in WBL play, outscored the hosts 18-7 in the third quarter as they handed the Redskins their first league loss.

NORTH BALTIMORE — Reygan Frey had 25 points and Lexi Wright added 21 and 17 rebounds to lead Riverdale past North Baltimore 71-61 in a Blanchard Valley Conference contest on Thursday night.
