Lady Polar Bears no match for Arlington

DOLA — Arlington jumped ahead by 19 points after one quarter and was never threatened in pulling away for a 69-15 win over Hardin Northern in non-league girls basketball action on Saturday. The Red Devils, who forced Hardin Northern into 38 turnovers, led 25-6 after eight minutes and 36-6 at halftime on the way to the win.

Hardin Northern’s late rally comes up short

DOLA — A second half Hardin Northern rally came up short as Mechanicsburg held off the Polar Bears 45-44 in a non-league boys basketball contest on Saturday. Hardin Northern, which outscored Mechanicsburg 15-9 in the final eight minutes, trailed 15-2 after one quarter before closing within 24-17 at halftime and 36-29 after three quarters.

MOUNT VICTORY — Botkins defeated Ridgemont 44-42 in eighth grade boys basketball action on Saturday. Mason Stuck led the Gophers with 24 points and 8 rebounds, while Landon Newland added 12 points, 15 rebounds and 7 assists.

USV cruises to 71-40 victory over Ridgemont

MOUNT VICTORY — Led by Quinn Sanders and Wyatt Daniels, the Upper Scioto Valley Rams took down Ridgemont 71-40 in a Northwest Central Conference clash Friday night. The USV boys improve their record to 7-2 overall, remaining unbeaten in the NWCC at 2-0. The Gophers remain winless with the loss, sitting at 0-11, 0-3.

McGUFFEY — Holding a 16-point lead over Upper Scioto Valley early in the third quarter, the Ridgemont Lady Gophers surrendered a 10-0 run to see the gap close to six with just under three minutes to go in the stanza. Following a timeout, Ridgemont refocused and got nearly all its points back by closing out the third quarter with a 9-0 run before going on to finish off the Lady Rams, 66-51, in Northwest Central Conference play on Thursday night.
