ADA — Ada and Lima Central Catholic were tied two minutes into the fourth quarter during their girls basketball matchup on Thursday night. A Lady Thunderbirds 35-14 advantage on the boards proved to be too much for Ada to overcome as LCC broke open the tight game with a 13-3 run over the next five minutes on the way to a 51-39 victory over the host Bulldogs.

The Kenton Middle School seventh grade boys basketball team improved to 5-2 on the season by defeating Bath 55-46 on Thursday. Colby Quay tallied 14 points to lead Kenton.

The Black team defeated the White team in Masonic Pool Tournament play on Thursday night. The White team now leads the tournament by 27 points.

After a quiet holiday schedule the past couple weekends, area basketball teams hit the hardwood in full force again this weekend. Included among teams back in action are the Kenton boys, who will play their first game in two weeks when they travel to Defiance to play in the first game at the Bulldogs new gymnasium in a boys/girls varsity doubleheader.

Baltimore Ravens defensive coordinator Dean Pees is retiring to spend more time with his family. He made the announcement during a team meeting earlier this week, according to a release on the team’s website.

WESTERVILLE — Amy Bullimore had a double-double with 18 points and 15 rebounds to lead No. 14-ranked Ohio Northern to a 66-42 women's basketball victory at Otterbein on Wednesday night. The Polar Bears (11-1 overall, 5-0 Ohio Athletic Conference) remain in first place in the league with their 11th consecutive victory.

ADA — Senior Nate Burger led four Ohio Northern players in double figures in scoring with 26 points in an 82-59 men's basketball victory over Otterbein on Wednesday night. The Polar Bears (9-3 overall, 4-1 Ohio Athletic Conference) remain in first place in the league with their fourth consecutive victory.

Ada coach Dre White liked the effort his team gave on Tuesday night against Fort Jennings. Unfortunately for the Bulldogs a solid effort was not enough to get back into the win column as the visiting Musketeers took advantage of a dominating effort on the boards to pull away for a 60-45 win in non-conference boys basketball action.
