OTTAWA — For the first time in the school’s history, the Ada Bulldogs volleyball team are district champions. The largest deficit Ada faced Thursday night in Ottawa against Lima Central Catholic was a single point, at the start of the first and third matches.

ELIDA — The Kenton boys soccer team threw everything it had at Elida during the first half of the boys Division II district final contest between the Western Buckeye League rivals on Thursday night. The Wildcats ran out of steam in the second half however as the host Bulldogs pulled out a 2-0 win to advance to next week’s regional tournament.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — The Riverdale girls were hoping to make a return appearance as a team at the Division III regional cross country meet in Tiffin on Saturday morning. That didn’t work out for the Lady Falcons as they finished fifth as a group at last Saturday’s district meet at Owens Community College - one spot short of the top four they needed to advance.

The White team defeated the Black team by 14 points in Masonic Pool Tournament play on Thursday night. The White team now leads the tournament by four points.

ALGER — Christmas has gotten a jump start this year at an antique store located between Ada and Alger. To visit The Attic Trunk antique store, a visitor would be taken by the permanent displays and the visual appeal of the wooden structure.

FINDLAY — If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again. Riverdale’s Reygan Frey took that to heart in Wednesday’s Division III district semifinal soccer match when, after being stopped the first time on a 1-on-1 with the Van Buren keeper, took advantage of the same scenario the second time.

The Kenton Wildcats postseason hopes were dashed last Friday when they came up a point short in a shootout at Elida. However, the Wildcats, are looking to send their 18 seniors out on a high note when they host Bath in their season-finale at Robinson Field on Friday night.
