The Kenton volleyball team could not pick up that elusive Western Buckeye League volleyball victory on Thursday. The Wildcats were competitive against Van Wert and even held a 19-13 lead in game two, before falling in straight sets to the Cougars 25-14, 28-26, 25-20.

ADA — Ada remained unbeaten in Northwest Conference volleyball action with a 25-12, 25-10, 25-21 victory over visiting Paulding on Thursday. The Bulldogs, who improve to 10-7 on the season, are now 4-0 in NWC play in their bid to win a third straight league crown.

LIMA — The Hardin Northern volleyball team defeated Lima Temple Christian in three games 25-12, 25-9, 25-11 in a Northwest Central Conference match on Thursday. The Polar Bears improve to 12-3 overall and 6-0 in league play.

BELLEFONTAINE — Ben Logan No. 2 defeated West Liberty No. 2 by a 6-3 score in Logan County junior high soccer action on Thursday. Rhea Harner scored 2 goals, and Brooks Myers, Maddy Plikerd, Graham Studebaker and Michael Rostefer each had a goal each had a goal to lead Ben Logan.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — In a match between Riverdale and Ada that had seen two yellow cards for overly-aggressive play, the deciding factor came down to one instance where Ada was too physical in the wrong place at the wrong time.

BUCYRUS — Riverdale freshman Andrew Kuenzli fired an 89 to finish eighth overall and post the third best individual score to advance out of sectional golf play at Valley View Golf Course on Thursday. Kuenzli’s score moves him into district play at Stone Ridge Golf Club in Bowling Green next week.

COLUMBUS — The Kenton boys soccer team made the most out of its trip to Columbus Crew’s stadium to play Graham on Thursday as they blasted the Falcons 5-0 in the non-league match. Drew Hoppe had two goals and Landon Bartlett, Cobe Heydinger and Luke Woodruff added one tally each for the Wildcats, who improve to 11-0-1 on the season.

BELLEFONTAINE —Ben Logan defeated visiting Indian Lake in straight sets 25-11, 25-15, 25-5 on Thursday in Central Buckeye Conference volleyball action. The Raiders improve to 14-4 overall and 7-2 in league play.

KALIDA — The Kenton golf team finished third and advanced to next week’s Division II district tournament during sectional play at Country Acres on Thursday. The Wildcats, who were paced by Rocco Longbrake’s 82, shot a team score of 344.

LIMA — The Kenton tennis team had a pair of girls advance to the second day of the Western Buckeye League tournament on Thursday. Kenton’s No. 3 singles player, Kelsey Flowers, will play for fifth place on Saturday after splitting her opening two matches, while No. 1 singles player, Mykaela Schriber, will play for seventh after dropping a pair of matches.
