Four area boys basketball teams are hosting games on Friday night as the 2017-18 season tips off. Kenton begins its season with a home game against Indian Lake. The junior varsity tip is at 6 p.m.

ADA — Senior Courtney Cramer poured in a career-high 21 points to the lead the No. 15-ranked Ohio Northern women's basketball team to an 88-49 victory over Case Western Reserve in the 2017-18 home-opener at the ONU Sports Center on Wednesday evening.

The annual Elks free throw shooting contest will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Kenton High School gymnasium. Registration begins at 2:30 p.m.

The Kenton High School swim teams split a dual meet with Elida on Tuesday night as the Wildcats girls won 90-61 and the boys were edged 82-68. Winning individual events for the Lady Wildcats were Elaina Schaub in the 200 individual medley (2:51.88) and the 100 freestyle (1:07.26), Morgan Kohl in the 50 free (28.93 seconds), Haley Hunt in the 100 butterfly (1:36.16), Olivia Hattery in the 500 free (7:32.30) and Alexis Grubbs in the 100 breaststroke (1:31.56).

BELLEFONTAINE — The Ben Logan boys and girls bowling teams defeated Riverside on Wednesday night. The Raider boys won 2,074-1,657. Zach Barnes had games of 169 and 171 and Daulton Shields added games of 158 and 175 to lead the Raiders.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Riverdale’s girls basketball team got off to a slow start, missing its first five shots from the field against Hardin Northern on Tuesday night. Once the Lady Falcons got going though there was little the Polar Bears could do to stop them.

McGUFFEY — A 21-point halftime deficit proved too much for the Upper Scioto Valley girls basketball team, which fell to Bluffton 71-49 on Tuesday night. With just one full-time returning starter in Kaycee Carroll and several new faces in starting roles for the Lady Rams (0-1), led by first-year head coach Travis Donley, the game proved a learning experience for the team.

ADA — Cory-Rawson defeated Ada 53-45 in the Lady Bulldogs girls basketball season-opener on Tuesday night. Raina England netted 16 points to lead Ada, while Maddie Gossard chipped in with 11 and Rilan Conley added 10.

DOLA — The Hardin Northern Junior High girls basketball teams split a pair of games with Elgin on Monday. The Polar Bear seventh grade jumped ahead 12-0 after one quarter on the way to a 29-7 victory.
