ADA — Nine Ohio Northern student-athletes were named All-Ohio Athletic Conference in football for 2017 in voting conducted by the league's 10 head coaches. Senior linebacker Zach Schmerge, junior receiver Chad Rex and sophomore running back Christiaan Williams were all First Team All-OAC selections.

GENEVA, N.Y. — The No. 14-ranked Ohio Northern women's soccer team saw its historic season come to an end in the quarterfinal round of the 2017 NCAA Div. III Women's Soccer Tournament as it fell to No. 5-ranked Hardin-Simmons (Tex.) 1-0 Sunday afternoon at Boswell Field in Geneva, N.Y.

BELLEFONTAINE— The Ben Logan girls bowling team opened its season on Friday by splitting a tri-match with Sidney and Mechanicsburg. The Lady Raiders defeated Sidney 2087-1883 and were defeated by Mechanicsburg 2234-2087.

ASHLAND — Ashland University senior wide receiver Matthew Wilcox has been named the recipient of the 2017 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Jack H. McAvoy Award, announced on Thursday by GLIAC Commissioner Kris Dunbar.

Three athletes from area football teams received first-team honors on the All-Northwest District football teams released on Thursday. Kenton senior Shawn Conover was selected to the Division IV first team at linebacker after leading the Wildcats with 12.7 tackles per game and five interceptions this past season.

The Black team defeated the White team by one point in Thursday night’s Masonic Pool play. The White team now leads the tournament by 11 points.

DOLA — The Hardin Northern Fall Sports Awards Banquet was held on Monday night with athletes that participated in football, volleyball, cross country and cheerleading receiving special awards.
