The Benjamin Logan varsity cheerleading team won the Mad River Division at the ninth annual Central Buckeye Conference competition at Bellefontaine on Saturday.

BEREA — The Ohio Northern football team celebrated Senior Day with a 42-25 victory over Baldwin Wallace on a cold Saturday afternoon at Dial-Roberson Stadium. The Polar Bears (7-3 overall, 6-3) finish in a three-way tie for second place in the Ohio Athletic Conference with a 6-3 record and clinch an upper division finish in the league for the 21st time in the past 22 seasons.

ADA — For the first time in school history, the Ohio Northern women's soccer team advanced to the Sweet 16 round of the NCAA Div. III Women's Soccer Tournament as it kept its season alive by defeating No. 20-ranked Illinois Wesleyan 2-0 on Sunday afternoon at Kerscher Stadium.

WESTERVILLE — No. 3 Wittenberg rode the momentum of a tight Set 1 win to a 27-25, 25-14, 25-10 victory over No. 20-ranked Ohio Northern in the regional finals of the NCAA Div. III Volleyball Tournament on Sunday afternoon. The Polar Bears end their season at 29-6 overall, while the Tigers improve to 24-2.

Hardin Northern senior Shelby Alloway (center) signed a National Letter of Intent to continue her volleyball career and education at Division II California University of Pennsylvania.

ADA — The Ada High School softball team has never won the Northwest Conference championship. Now that two of his top seniors have signed to play softball collegiately, third-year coach Troy Erickson is hoping they will be ready to help guide the Bulldogs to that elusive first-ever league crown next spring.

A trio of Kenton players received first team recognition on the boys Division II All-District soccer team that was released on Thursday. Wildcats receiving first team honors were juniors Landon Bartlett, Hayden Hicks and Drew Hoppe.

Kenton had a pair of first-team selections among the Wildcats’ seven players recognized on the All-Western Buckeye League football teams released on Thursday. Wildcat players receiving first-team recognition were quarterback Jaron Sharp, who was selected as an offensive flex player and linebacker Shawn Conover.

The White team defeated the Black team by five points in Masonic Pool Tournament play on Thursday night. The White team now leads the Black team by 12 points.

ADA — Ada volleyball standout Melina Woods made the decision last June that after graduating she will attend Canisius College to continue her athletic career and education. On Wednesday, the Ada senior made her decision official when she signed her National Letter of Intent to play for the Golden Griffins next fall.
