Pair of Lady Wildcats move on to second day of WBL tennis tourney

LIMA — The Kenton tennis team had a pair of girls advance to the second day of the Western Buckeye League tournament on Thursday. Kenton’s No. 3 singles player, Kelsey Flowers, will play for fifth place on Saturday after splitting her opening two matches, while No. 1 singles player, Mykaela Schriber, will play for seventh after dropping a pair of matches.

BELLEFONTAINE — Trailing 2-1 to Indian Lake with just a few minutes left in the half, the Benjamin Logan girls had a chance to pull even when a foul in the box resulted in a penalty shot. With the ball on the spot, Ben Logan’s Stevie Plikerd took the shot, but it rolled to the left of the goal and out, resulting in a goal kick.

Wildcat girls run to 2nd, boys 4th at Bath Invite

LIMA — Freshman Sammie Unger was second of 57 runners to lead the Kenton girls cross country team to a second place finish among five teams at the Bath Invitational on Tuesday. Unger’s had a time of 22:03 over the 3.1-mile course and finished three spots ahead of the Wildcats second place runner KiKi Krohmer. Krohmer was fifth with a time of 22:37.

Frey, Rodriguez have big nights for Lady Falcons

MILLER CITY — Reygan Frey had four goals and an assist and Gabi Rodriguez added two goals and five assists as Riverdale blasted Miller City 9-0 in a non-conference girls soccer game on Wednesday. Haley Beltz, Katie Benitez and Kelsey Corbin added goals for the Falcons, who improve to 9-1-2 on the season.

BELLEFONTAINE — The Ben Logan Middle School volleyball teams defeated Graham on Wednesday night. The seventh grade Raiders won 25-12, 25-3 behind 11 aces and two kills by Brielle Moorhouse and 25 straight serving points and 7 aces by Lily Blackburn.
