FORT JENNINGS — Taylor Bacon scored the only goal nine minutes into the game to lift Riverdale to a 1-0 win over Fort Jennings in non-league boys soccer action on Tuesday. Tyler Hart assisted on the goals for the Falcons, who improve to 2-9-1 on the season.

BLUFFTON — Ada was defeated by Bluffton 2-0 in a Northwest Conference boys soccer match on Tuesday night. The Bulldogs, who fall to 7-3 on the season, received four saves in goal from Ace Gamble.

The fish are starting to bite at the Saulisberry Park in Kenton with a few crappies and perch and bluegills being caught on minnows, and waxworms. The quarry was stocked with hybrid bluegill early this year and there will be some smallmouth bass and walleye put in during October.

GRANVILLE — The No. 19-ranked Ohio Northern volleyball team won its sixth straight match as it swept Denison on Tuesday evening at Livingston Gymnasium in Granville. The Polar Bears improve to 15-3 overall, while the Big Red fall to 7-5.

BELLEFONTAINE — The Ben Logan eighth grade football team tied Springfield Northwestern 24-24 on Tuesday. Alec Rodenberger had 4 touchdown receptions from Kameron Allen to lead the Raiders.

The Ada volleyball team faced a Kenton team on Monday night that Bulldog coach Melissa Gossard noted is “much better than the typical” Wildcat team of past years. But while the scores may have been a little tighter, the Bulldogs still were able to come out on top in three games as they brushed aside the Wildcats 25-20, 25-13, 25-21 in the battle of Hardin County rivals.

BELLEFONTAINE — Springfield Northwestern topped Ben Logan 5-1 in a boys soccer battle for first place in the Central Buckeye Conference’s Mad River Division on Monday night. Peter Kratz scored the lone goal for the Raiders off an assist from Dylan Welch.

DEFIANCE — Kenton got a pair of wins in singles action as the Lady Wildcats fell to Defiance 3-2 in Western Buckeye League girls tennis action on Monday afternoon.

WEST LIBERTY — Sammie Unger was fifth out of 106 runners to lead the Kenton High School girls cross country team to third place out of 13 teams at the Ohio Caverns Invitational on Saturday. Unger ran a time of 22:02 over the 3.1-mile course, finishing ahead of teammate Ki Ki Krohmer, who was 10th in a time of 22:39 and Callie Wright, who was 17th in 23:44.

The Ben Logan Middle School volleyball teams defeated Indian Lake on Monday night. The eighth grade Raiders won 25-18, 25-11.
