Ada spikers win one of three at Minster Invite

MINSTER — The Ada volleyball team finished 1-2 to place fourth at the Minster Invitational on Saturday. The Bulldogs defeated Botkins 25-12, 25-15 in their first match of the day as Melina Woods had 18 kills and 2 blocks at the net and added 3 aces serving and five digs defensively to lead the Bulldogs.

Ohio Northern slows down Otterbein, 35-7

ADA — Ohio Northern celebrated its homecoming weekend with a 35-7 football victory over Otterbein on a warm Saturday afternoon at Dial-Roberson Stadium. The Polar Bears (2-1 overall, 1-1 Ohio Athletic Conference) used a dominating second half in the victory, holding the Cardinals (3-1, 2-1) to just 40 yards of total offense and one first down in the final 30 minutes.

BELLEFONTAINE — West Liberty-Salem defeated Ben Logan 3-1 in a boys soccer matchup on Saturday night. Trailing 3-0, George Kern scored his 20th goal of the season with four minutes left in the game for the Raiders lone goal.

Frey tallies 2 goals as Falcons top St. Marys

ST. MARYS — Reygan Frey had two goals and Gabi Rodriguez added a goal and an assist as Riverdale defeated St. Marys 3-1 in a non-league girls soccer match on Saturday. The Falcons, who improve to 8-1-2 on the season, led 1-0 at halftime before putting the game away with two goals in the second 40 minutes.

In the Monday night fall league at Memorial Park Golf Course, the first place team with a score of 12 under is the team of Todd Hayter, Steve McCullough, Rick Brown, Amy Albert and Dustin McCullough. St. Marys slow down Wildcats

St. Marys did what it does best and controlled the football with its running game against Kenton on Friday night. The Wildcats were unable to find any consistency in what they do best - their passing game as - after scoring a touchdown on their first possession of the game, they weren’t able to find the end zone again until the fourth quarter in a 30-13 setback to the visiting Roughriders.
