McGUFFEY — Van Wert outscored Upper Scioto Valley in each of the first three quarters to pull away for a 63-42 victory over the Rams in a non-league boys basketball game on Saturday night.

ALLIANCE — The Ohio Northern men’s basketball team fell on the road to Ohio Athletic Conference foe Mount Union 79-71 on Saturday afternoon. The Polar Bears fall to 3-4 overall and 2-1 in the OAC, while the Purple Raiders improve to 5-2, 1-1.

McGUFFEY — Trailing visiting Lincolnview by one point entering the fourth quarter the players on the USV boys basketball team knew they needed to turn up their pressure on the defensive end of the floor and that they needed to pound the ball inside the paint to Chase Rose and Trevor Dotson on the offensive end in the final eight minutes.

MOUNT VICTORY — Trailing just five points to Allen East at the half Friday night, the Ridgemont boys basketball team got the game to within a point with four minutes to go in the third.

A furious Kenton fourth quarter rally fell short as Tiffin Columbian edged Kenton 51-48 in a non-conference game Friday night.

BELLEFONTAINE — Ben Logan trimmed an 18-point Urbana fourth quarter lead to three points with a minute left in the game Friday, but the Hillclimbers were able to make their free throws down the stretch and held on for a 69-60 victory over the host Raiders.

ADA — Ada kept it close against Kalida for the entire 32 minutes Friday night, but the Bulldogs were never able to secure a lead, falling to the visiting Wildcats 62-59 in a non-conference matchup.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Trailing by just a point to Hopewell-Loudon heading into the final quarter, the Riverdale Falcon boys were out-scored 27-19 down the stretch, falling to the Chieftains 60-51 Friday night.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Riverdale was able to slow down Liberty-Benton leading scorer Jensen Hiegel, but it had no answer inside for Caitlin Elseser. The 6-foot-2 freshman had 20 points, 11 rebounds and six blocks as the Eagles pulled away for a 75-53 victory Thursday night in Blanchard Valley Conference girls basketball play.
