ADA — Ada struggled to get its offense going Friday night and it cost the Bulldogs in a 20-7 nonconference football loss to Arlington. The Bulldogs (1-1) finished with 137 yards of total offense. Ada had only 38 yards of offense at halftime, including a 42-yard pass from Seth Conley to Jordan Bailey.

WEST LIBERTY — Ben Logan built a 14-point halftime lead and had an answer every time West Liberty-Salem challenged in the second half Friday. The Raiders (2-0) grabbed a 28-13 victory in the Logan County contest.

BELLEFONTAINE — Heading into Wednesday night’s Central Buckeye Conference boys soccer contest, Ben Logan had played Tecumseh 14 years in a row and lost every one of those games. Early on, it seemed as if it would be more of the same.

Kenton and Defiance are in similar predicaments this week as both are in search of their first victory in 2016 when they square off in the opening week of Western Buckeye League action Friday night in Defiance. The Wildcats are coming off a 58-39 loss to Coldwater in season-opening action last Friday.

Four area football teams — Ada, Ridgemont, Riverdale and Ben Logan — will be looking for their second win in as many tries when they take the field Friday night. Ada, which pulled away in the second half for a 38-6 win over Upper Scioto Valley in week one, hosts an Arlington team that perennially has been in the top half of the Blanchard Valley Conference and with several playoff runs in recent years.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Riverdale forced a fourth set but could not push it to five in a 25-14, 25-18, 22-25, 25-21 loss to Hopewell-Loudon to open Blanchard Valley Conference volleyball play Wednesday night.

SPRINGFIELD — Greenon defeated the Ben Logan boys golf team 164-195 in a Central Buckeye Conference dual match Tuesday afternoon at Reid Park. Garrett Allen led the Raiders with a 45.

VAN BUREN — Reygan Frey and Sydney Holderman tallied second half goals for Riverdale as the Falcons rallied from a two-goal deficit to tie Van Buren 2-2 in a North Central Ohio Soccer Association game Wednesday. Frey scored with 8:35 left in the game off an assist from Holderman to make it 2-1.

ADA — Lima Central Catholic defeated Ada 4-1 in a high school girls tennis match on Wednesday afternoon. Picking up the lone victory for the Bulldogs (4-5) was the doubles team of Samantha Crawford and Shelby Higgins, who defeated Kenya Manley and Cassadi Lhaman.

BELLEFONTAINE — The Ben Logan Middle School volleyball teams deated Urbana on Wednesday night. The Lady Raider seventh grade won 25-6, 25-16.
