BELLEFONTAINE — Blaine Ricketts put together one of the best seasons in the history of Ohio Northern golf last year as a junior. Ricketts, a 2013 Ben Logan graduate, said he had the third-best average for a season in ONU history.

Two-a-day practices for the Kenton High School football team don’t start until Aug. 1 and the first game of the season of the season isn’t until Aug. 26 when the Wildcats host Coldwater. Even though the opening kickoff is nearly two months away, the Wildcats have been preparing for the season for quite a while through weightlifting and 7-on-7 tournaments.

The Trophy Bassmasters have completed almost half of the 2016 tournament season and Boyd Downey leads the Angler of the Year race. Downey has 214 points, 22 ahead of four-time defending Angler of the Year John Clark, who is in second place.
